Another example of the local unknowing newz-ies blathering about something they don't have the slightest idea of what they're wasting CO2 about. No matter what happens local taxpayers will be hosed.
Local media already has the taxpayers bent over to take the rape, just like it went down for RayJay. How about we keep our eyes on the prize, and it is Stu Sternberg's, not the taxpayers. The ONLY entity that will benefit from a new stadium is the RAYS. If a new stadium makes sense, let the RAYS pay for it. If not, let the RAYS continue to pay in the TROP through 2027 and then journey on. I don't see anyone stepping up to the plate to improve on the $8.29 per hour (with no benefits) that my autistic son's school aide gets paid.
Stu bought the RAYS for $200 million in 2004 and it is now worth $450 million according to Forbes. There are only 30 MLB francishes, and the number is not growing. If the RAYS are a bad investement for Stu, then Stu can sell - there are certainly plenty of jock-sniffing multil-millionaires/billionares out there that would be glad to relieve Stu of his agony.
My name is Scott Myers - if you did your due diligence you could quickly determine that I do not live in St. Pete. I recently opened up my wallet to donate $3,000 to All Childrens Hospital - an equivalent donation from the Glazers would equal $8.8 million - guess what they did not donate anywhere that much.
I am not going to shut up and when are you going to reveal your real name?
It's no secrete we been on opposite ends of this debate that Tampa should or shouldn't invest in a business that they'll will or won't receive more revenue back in time, BUT if it's going to happen regardless of your continuous disses about a new ballpark on this blog, I'm still surprised your not even into the idea of how to cut cost to make it happen. Ever heard of "being part of the solution then being part of the problem"? Like I've stated before, I believe they should move like most regular people do in the traditional sense, same stuff, new house. Though it's not most of the cost, every lil' bit helps. Plus I believe a energy saving canvas-like roof of such sort would also help reduce cost. Also if ballparks like Chase Field & Miller Park was built for a 1/2 bill. (in 2013 $), then a smaller "bouquet-like" park that seats maybe only 30-35k w/ more standing spots would also help cost... Substance like so should be as investigated as the debate of if or if not as well...
