Dissecting the Red Sox' Attendance Drop

Since the Red Sox aren't about to go blaming an outdated ballpark for attendance, there are many questions just why the first-place team's attendance has slipped so much from last year, despite better performance.

Masslive.com reports ticket sales will be down about 7% for the Sox this year, although the team expected it.

The Boston Globe points out the buzz around the team has subsided from it's peak a few years ago.

And the Biz of Baseball concludes ticket sales jumps and drops are often delayed by a year...which means good things to the Sox next year...and bad for teams like the Angels and Giants.

  1. Wow, you're right Noah. The Red Sox attendance went down too. See there's nothing wrong with the Trop at all. And it must be just as good as Fenway since its attendance is also declining.

It is clear that you have little to say once the insults and rudeness of your replies are stripped away.

  2. They still have the 3rd highest percentage of filled stadium in the Majors. Nice low-blow correlating your Red Sux to the Trop issue, we wouldn't expect anything from a Bahstonian! Maybe the Red Sox should hold concerts after the games, or have b2g2 through the Boston Globe (like TBT does), oha, their owned by the same person now... lol

2 things Noah, 1, I was wondering if this blog gives you a option to have where it'll show the last commented on article like city-data does? And 2, though no one else has "investigated or reported" this so you probably won't know, but among other frugal ideas from me, I was wondering the possibility of seeing the Rays get retail, small business suits, and/or restaurants to buy in to the new park @ Channelside to build on the outside ground level like high rise condos often do, and/or get a hotel to build on to the park in maybe beyond right field so people can buy a hotel room, and sit out on their balcony and watch the game (the ultimate luxury boxes), maybe it'll look like the warehouse in left @ Petco Park? If they want to build Channelside into what was reported, then why have segregated businesses?

  3. This site does not give that option, sorry.

As for the pie-in-the-sky Channelside dream, there are way too many issues when it comes to financing to make it happen anytime soon (i.e. - not enough profit to be had without huge public dollars).

    1. LOL, NO'ah in true form w/ the simple opinion of "no it won't work", mainly because no one reported that it will (or won't). "(i.e. - not enough profit to be had without huge public dollars)", we'll again agree to disagree, though I'm sure you crunched all the numbers and probables in your extensive "investigation" on the matter, lol...
